Mind is the essence of everything.

Due to mind's purity, all becomes pure.

Due to mind's clarity, all becomes clear.

The essence of everything is one's own mind.

New Year Mindfulness Based Living: The 8 Week Course

With Mindfulness Africa; Carey Would and Kerri Martinaglia

Begins: Thursday 8th February 2018, 5.30pm - 7.30pm (Every Thursday evening for 7 Consecutive Weeks and a Full Day Retreat)

Cost: R3500

This programme is a comprehensive training in mindfulness, over 8 consecutive weeks, suitable for both beginners and for those who already have a mindfulness practice.

“Although assumed to be subject to our conscious control, most of the time our minds shuttle endlessly between the past and the future. Little time is actually spent living in the present. Yet, our capacity to effectively handle stress, to make informed decisions, and to access previously untapped resources and apply them in challenging, fast-paced business situations all rely on our capacity to be present. Quite literally, only when we are in the present can we optimise our capacity to consciously respond to situations rather than simply react, bring greater concentration and focus to work, and to monitor our level of stress and take effective steps to address it.”Centre for Mindfulness, University of Massachusetts.

Participants will be taught progressive skills in mindfulness and compassion through presentations, guided practice and enquiry sessions. A strong emphasis is placed on experiential learning, and for this reason there are home assignments that include regular mindfulness practice, daily life exercises and journal writing. Each session runs for 2 hours, once a week, over a two-month period.

1) Starting Where We Are

2) The Body as a Place to Stay Present

3) Introducing Mindfulness Support

4) Working with Distraction

5) Exploring the Undercurrent

6) Attitude of the Observer

7) Self-Acceptance

8) A Mindfulness Based Life

Cost includes instruction, detailed notes and a flash drive of mindfulness practices. A 50% deposit secures your place.

Restorative Yoga Weekend Retreat - The Big Relax

17th & 18th February

With Tara Rokpa Therapist Pippa Cope

9am - 4pm each day

Cost: R1100 for the full weekend or R600 per day

Restorative Yoga balances a fast lifestyle and has an enormous capacity to heal physical and mental symptoms that are stress related, and as we know, many diseases these days are stress related. The beauty of restorative Yoga is that there is no muscular contraction involved. We believe we have to “work” to increase flexibility, but often we achieve more opening in parts of the body that we perceive as tight by softening and relaxing than through an active asana practice. During a restorative Yoga sequence, you still stretch, but you relax fully in the stretch so that tension can slowly be released. Because the body and mind relax, literally becoming softer, we also create space to get in touch again with our natural qualities of compassion and understanding of others and self. Beginners are very welcome.

KZN Kundalini Yoga Festival - Mindfulness & Compassion in our Kundalini Yoga Practice to Recognise our Common Humanity

26th-30th April 2018 (Thurs – Mon)

Full Festival Cost: R2000 per person

(R1750 early registration before the end of February 2018)

The festival can accommodate a maximum of 66 people, so please book early

Kundalini yoga has beautiful practices that are uplifting and very accessible enabling us to train and have insight into our minds. When practiced, it elevates us spiritually

and physically. The mind starts to work for us instead of against us. Through this practice, we develop the tools that make it possible to become aware of the ebb and

flow of our moods and emotions and the activity of our mind. These precious gifts allow us to approach our meditation practice as a joy instead of a chore. It is in this

place of awareness and compassion that we can start to unravel the habits of the mind. We learn to become more mindful instead of reactive in our interactions and

ultimately we start to see our true nature and that of those we interact with. This is a resident camping festival where participants will stay on the camp site and have fun building the group energy. Participants will practice Kundalini yoga, meditate in the forest, take nature walks, chant together in the evenings and work together as a yoga family uplifting each other.

All meals will be provided, 2 cottages available to rent (4 - 6 people) and the rest will be camping
